Anyone approaching yoga finds many different names and often wonders where to start. Vinyasa, Hatha, Rocket: they aren't separate worlds, but different approaches to the same practice. Let's look at the differences, without jargon.

Hatha Yoga: the foundations

Hatha is the 'slower', more instructional yoga: postures are held longer, with attention to alignment and breath. It's perfect for building the basics, understanding the body, and for anyone looking for a calm, grounding practice.

Vinyasa Yoga: the flow

In Vinyasa, movement is linked to the breath in a fluid, dynamic sequence. It's more 'danced' and varied, great for those seeking energy, rhythm and a practice that warms the body. Each class can be different from the last.

Rocket Yoga: the energy

Rocket® is a dynamic, accessible version of Ashtanga, created by Larry Schultz. Lively sequences, inversions and arm balances offered with a playful, modifiable approach: 'you're stronger than you think'. Ideal for those who love a challenge and want to build strength.

Which to choose?

  • Want to start from the basics and understand your body? Begin with Hatha.
  • Looking for energy, flow and variety? Vinyasa is for you.
  • Love intense movement and challenges? Try Rocket.
  • Can't decide? An adaptive method integrates them all, starting from your level.

Hatha is often the most suitable to start with, but a Vinyasa or Rocket guided with beginner-friendly variations are perfect too. The teacher matters a lot.

Absolutely. In fact, alternating different styles makes the practice more complete and balanced.

There's no perfect style: there's the right one for you, in this moment. — Silvia
